Hello, I’m currently looking for a bike to do a half iron man next year. I’ve been looking at bikes for a decent bit now and have a okay understanding of what I want. This bike seems to fit most of that criteria and I just want to know if it’s a good deal and even worth going for? From talking to the owner he’s said that it’ll probably only need a tune up and that he bought it brand new. It is a 2011 and I don’t know if a bike that old is still worth the current price. I haven’t gone to check it out yet but I want a solid baseline beforehand to either renegotiate the price or avoid it in general. Once again thanks for all the help and I’ve attached the details of the bike in the second slide!

Prices are all in CAD

  1. That is not from 2011, by 2011 DA had shift cables that routed under the handlebar tape. At best it is from 2007 and the general look suggests a few years earlier. It seems quite expensive for what it is.

  2. Way overpriced. That looks older than 2011. In Vancouver at least it’s a buyer’s market out there. Tons of way more modern bikes that will suit you better at that price

Id give them $300 tops and that’s stretching it. Wheels are mismatched Mavic Aksiums from wildly different eras, that rear wheel is minimum ‘05 ‘06 and this joker wants $1250.

  4. I don’t think it is worth it

For comparison I bought a 2012 argon 18 gallium, with 6700 ultegra, in 2017 for $1500 CAD. I’m in Vancouver.

    Dude….
For the money you are willing to spend, stretch a little further and get a new, basic roadie- like last years model or the year before even at a local bike shop. There are new older models out there you can get for just a little more. That bike is a waste of your time and money. Carbon that old is near the end of its usable life and may be structurally weaker than you think. Don’t do it my friend. Find that newer bike, have peace of mind and enjoy your half Iron-man confident that your bike is capable of a good finish even if you are not – not saying you’re not, just propping you up for a better riding experience that is safe also. Crappy new components are better than the best of that era.

  6. $400 maybe. It’s a very old bike, good components but dated. Take a look at ProsCloset, or even Facebook Marketplace.
