Hi everyone 👋

I'm asking for some help in deciding the right bike for me to buy. 2 years ago I started cycling to work and bought myself a Trek FX 3. Since then, I've ended up enjoying cycling way more than I thought I would and want to upgrade to a nicer bike.

Ideally I'd like to get something that I think looks really cool, but is also really functional. I wanted something with the aero looks of a Canyon Aeroad CF SLX 7 Di2. But the reality is that most of the time I'll be using the bike to commute to work, so I need a rack where I can attach my pannier. And since I'm cycling in London, mudguards are a bit of a must due to the rainy weather.

From what I've searched, it seems like more aero-looking road bikes don't have the necessary mounts for mudguards and pannier racks? So that's why I'm asking for help in searching for some bike that ticks all these boxes.

My budget is quite flexible, but ideally don't want to overspend if not necessary. I understand that the better looking bikes are usually more expensive, but still looking for something less than 5k.

Not going to lie, it wouldn’t be a bike I’d take on a regular commute in London, commute times are too hectic for a nice road bike. I can’t think of an aero bike that has mudguard mounts and pannier racks, but the Cervelo Caledonia (both standard and 5) have mudguard mounts. So does the Enve Melee but that’s a different budget category.

The other thing you could do is to get a road bike and then look into something like a tailfinn that is an attachable pannier mount to a road bike commonly used for backpacking.

    Good luck with the search!
