Passing through the Solent UK on the 30th September 2023 and 5th October 2023
In November 2006, HNLMS Tromp participated in a live Theatre Ballistic Missile (TBM) Tracking Exercise (TRACKEX). The event took place on the Pacific Missile Range Facility off Hawaii. For the TRACKEX, Tromp was equipped with the experimental Extended Long Range (ELR) modification to its Thales Nederland SMART-L radar. During the exercise, a ballistic missile surrogate was launched from Kauai Island and was successfully tracked by HNLMS Tromp using its ELR-modified SMART-L radar. Another successful TRACKEX was held in December 2006
The frigate was laid down on 22 December 2009 and launched on 21 December 2010 by Odense Steel Shipyard, at Odense. The vessel was commissioned on 7 November 2011.
From 7 May to 13 May 2022, Niels Juel took part in Exercise Mjolner 2022 held in the Arctic region. The vessel conducted its first launches of the SM-2 missiles.
Hessen Built by Nordseewerke, Emden, Hessen was the third and final ship of the Sachsen class to be launched and then commissioned into the German Navy. She is based at Wilhelmshaven with the other ships of the Sachsen class as part of 2. Fregattengeschwader, which itself forms part of the Einsatzflottille 2.
