I just wear my converse shoes when I go to work so I don’t have to carry a pair with, but I have a pair of five tens that I also really like. I use those on my road bike since clipless scare me.

been there, done that.
Get some proper riding shoes, the sole needs to be stiffer for pedal performance you know, it’s not a skateboard.
fiveten was a banger back then, free ride pro…
Now I have a shoe from ride concept, which I like. Bontrager hat one too, forgot the name, it was alright !

i picked up a pair of these when they were on sale last year and love them with my SPD clips.
Purely for comfort and durability and proper flat pedal shoes will do you wonders. Street shoes are usually really soft and don’t last long on the bike. Mtb shoes are usually a little stiffer which helps with hot spots on your feet too.
