  1. The opening stages of the Giro in Bulgaria certainly delivered some high-octane drama! 🎢 What were your standout moments from the week, and do you think Jonas Vingegaard is right to stay at the back during the bunch sprints to avoid trouble? Let us know in the comments below! 👇

  2. I think tires need to be assessed from a safety perspective. It's quite obvious that racing tires aren't prioritizing riders' safety in wet conditions, and I believe this needs to be addressed urgently. They were very lucky on Saturday; that crash barrier was nasty. I would prefer to see a slightly slower but safer professional, rather than what we saw this weekend.

  3. Watching the sprint in Sofia was really something special. The atmosphere was so positive and seeing the worlds best on home roads was amazing! 🎉

  4. Magniers peak wins!? No, that was definitely when I saw him win in the Tour of Britain up into my hometown Northampton, I'm sure that holds the no.1 place in his heart 😂

  5. The Women's stage 7 of Vuelta Femenina was beautifully brutal. The weather allowed the cameras to illustrate the continual steep grades. A thrilling contest! .

  6. So, once again a premier women's race gets second billing to the first three days of a men's race but also hawking merchandize. The men's race gets almost nine minutes while women get four and one half minutes, almost half the coverage. I have commented a number of times at the seeming misogyny in the coverage of women in the sport which parallels how women in sports are treat in terms of salary, media coverage, venues and in general respects for women's athleticism. I would ask that GCN staff have a serious conversation regarding their participation in prioritizing men's sport over women's, additional I would like to see female talent in front of the camera as permanent staff presenters.

  7. Hi GCN,

there’s really no need to use photos of riders’ ripped suits after a crash as a banter line. I don’t mind humour, but not when it trivialises crashes or injuries.

    Thanks

  8. Was interesting to see Marion Bunel taking the leadership role at visma instead of PFP who seemed to be struggling in the crazy steep gradients! Looking forward to the next grand tours to see what this team will do!

  9. Realy bad for cyclists and spectators when so many GC contenders crash out. UCI should have a yellow flag system like F1 which is employed at slippery high speed corners ahead of time when deemed necessary due to rain.

  10. Small correction to your UAE crash comments… Minus Pogacar who gets all their luck. A shame to not see you criticising UAE again showing their clear disregard for rider safety with Adam Yates. Their throw the rider on the bike tactic and ask questions later strategy is not helping the sports battle with concussion. It retired Luke Rowe remember!

  11. Milan's sprint train….is not the best. Trek seem to have spread their options a bit more than last year where they were all in for Pedersen. Milan had to lead himself out from just under 300mts yesterday.

  12. Women's Vuelta last stage was very riveting to watch, woman's pro cycling has a way to produce exciting cycling until the last minute, if not seconds

  13. IMHO the preordained/arbitrary/token/rigged/weak two man break on stage 2 was partially to blame for the crash that ensued, it was caught far too early in the stage meaning we got the teams line abreast "half-wheeling" each other. Where as if we had a strong dynamic aggressive 5-10 man break looking for the win they would have made it closer to the finish (probably caught on the penultimate climb thinning out the peloton) meaning the peloton would have been in chase mode and strung out with more riders on the racing line. Yes they might have still crashed on that corner but would at least have some sliding room and not bosh straight into the barrier.

  14. I think if Milan weight 65kg and be able to produce the same power he usually does, 1800-2000w, also started sprinting a bit later. He could have won the stage.

  15. The Bulgaria stages were unacceptable in terms of rider safety. We as a community need to be more outspoken about this issue. Yates shouldn't be finishing with a concussion – im sure the race organizers restarting the race so quickly contributed to him not receiving a proper assessment

  16. I hate that the tour starts in far away countries. Bulgaria is not a neighbouring country. Ii understand if a stats venture just across the borders but not far and wide. Imagine the carbon footprint with these long transfes

  17. The design of that Bulgarian Armco is dreadful. They should have a lower rail so you don't go under the rail or hit the uprights.

  18. Ill save everyone a watch here, Milan is just a terrible sprinter. All the Watts in the world wont help you if you are simply dung at sprinting, which he is. God awful.
