Hello! Just as the title asks, would this be a good bike for someone really just starting out? I have had a Pure Cycle city bike for several years and have found that I’d like to upgrade at least a bit and go on more serious and longer rides. Would this be a good next step?

I am 5’7ā€ for reference.

Thank you!

That would be a fantastic beginner friendly road bike. You’ve got yourself there a endurance-road bike. It’s also a very excellent price, especially with the custom fenders and very high quality topeak bag/rack. You’ve got like $300 there alone in just the fenders and rack/bag combo. That’s an awesome painted synapse, one that I haven’t seen. This is basically a road bike with more relaxed and forgiving geometry (taller up front, shorter reach). At your height, you’re definitely on the lower-end cusp of fitting a medium, but being this has endurance bike geometry, you might be able to get away with riding a medium. I’d often recommend a size small in your height, but you’re most likely sort of inbetween sizes (small/medium), and in that case, it’s always better to go with the smaller size. Unlike with clothing, it’s often better to go with the smaller of two sizes because you can always size a small bike up, but it’s very hard to size a larger bike down.

That’s an absolute deal for $700; hydraulic disc brakes, custom fenders and an expensive rear rack-bag combo to run errands or do longer rides with, sram rival groupset with very nice wide gearing, and some very classy looking silver polished rims.
