This is a woman inside a bubble on a bike.
And this this a picture of the Great British Bicycle Bubble from 1896.
in 1890s Britain, the bicycle represented a social and environmental breakthrough.
During that time the public enthusiasm for bicycles and for the shares of its publicly traded companies exploded.
The bubble inflated so quickly, with share prices in British bicycle companies tripling in the space of months and even the number of bicycle companies increased more than five-fold.
As always, the bubble busted quickly leaving more than a 100 bicycle manufacturers bust and thousands of investors broke.
Investors in the present day are no different than investors in the nineteenth century. The technology changes, but human nature stays the same.
