Hi yall! I have a 1983 Raleigh Olympian Road bike, and I am trying to modernize the back wheel, and cassette because my original wheel is falling apart. I am not amazing at bikes, but I want to do it myself, and I was hoping yall could help with advice on what back wheel/components I should buy. Here are the OG parts I am looking to replace
– 27x 1 1/4 inch Ayara wheels
-5 speed freewheel
-Suntour gear shift (possibly)
I was thinking about buying the
-Rear 700C QR x 130 Shimano
-Shimano 8 speed casette
But I don’t know if it would fit. Please any advice on what yall think I should buy.

It will fit, but you might need new brakes if the ones you have don’t reach. Most likely need to cold set the chainstays as well
Yeah the cold setting is the main thing. Had to do that on my 86 Japanese bike when I upgraded. Pretty straightforward if you take your time.
