Is Aveiro truly the “Little Venice” of Portugal? Coming from the Birmingham region of England, it takes a lot of canals to impress me! On Day 60, I fought a rare headwind to reach the coast, exploring tiled villages and the famous green canals of Aveiro.
In this episode, I do a side-by-side taste test of the famous Ovos Moles—sampling both the traditional “hard-boiled” version and the pastry-free variety. After navigating the tour groups, I head north to the salt pans and the iconic candy-striped houses of Costa Nova, before hunting for a sheltered wild camp spot in the Atlantic dunes.

  1. Coming from the land of canals (Birmingham!), I had high standards for Aveiro! 😂 What do you think – does it live up to the 'Little Venice' name? Also, that Ovos Moles taste test was… interesting! 🥚👇

  2. You've been a tad unlucky with the weather, quite a bit of rain. But thankfully this hasn't dampened your spirits. The streets look quite deserted in that part of Portugal.

  3. Thanks for sharing your incredible travels. I’ve just received my Vivente last week. How do you manage shopping, cafes or any stops that you need to leave your gear and keep both your bicycle and panniers secure? Thanks 🙏 Safe travels 🙏

  4. I would never have guessed that you're a Brummie ! Hope don't mind my curosity re you're cycling helmet. It looks more like a military helmet and a lot bigger than most cycling helmets I normally see cyclists wearing.
