Ordered some gp5000s off amazon, ignorantly selected “used like new” to save an extra 25 bucks. Waited a week and this is what they sent me.

A set of the wrong size completely used gator skins in the GP 5000 packaging. Amazon took the return and gave me a 25 dollar gift card for the trouble.

I just think it’s kind of funny how someone thought this would go un noticed by the buyer.

This is always the gamble you run with Amazon, but when returns are so easy it has always worked out for me. That said, I did get a pair of GP5000 this way a couple years ago, and the boxes were just slightly dented. Tires totally fresh and new.

I did that with a Yale smart lock. I was thinking maybe a lock shop installed and then pulled it out later? The glass on it was scratched right in the middle. It went back.

  3. When I used to buy too much of my stuff from Amazon, bike tires I’d always buy warranty and I had to use it twice because I think sometimes I’d get fakes – they didn’t last a year. I have the same feeling this happened with my brakes too.

I’ve moved on to only buying my bike supplies from a nearby bike store that ships. It costs more but anything that keeps your bike upright or stops the bike from moving needs to be trusted.

Also I think people have been committing fraud against Amazon. They’ll often return something else or mark it down as unopened after using it. And then the warehouse ships it to another customer. It’s happened multiple times to me where I’d receive a product that was swapped or clearly used.

I never open parcels without the GoPro running. I have needed to use the video a couple  of times for damage when something was poorly packed and fraud.

It’s not all bad. I’ve ordered brooks saddle from Amazon , lights , frame bags …. It’s good for some stuff.

Same happened to me multiple times with shimano chains. Ended up spending the extra £5 for the same thing on EBay, but that time is was legit

Why buy used tyres to begin with anyway? Just fork out for new ones instead of being cheap.

Looks like them gators are shedding their skins. Hope you get you money back mate.
and fuck amazon! I canceled my prime membership and stopped using it the moment I had an issue and realised how bad the customer service is.

You could totally re-sell. Keep the bike chain going. You’re cursed now dude. 10,000 miles of bad road.

This is why I also check the manufacturer of things before I order from Amazon or some other giant interweb clearing house. It’s usually almost the same price and you know you are getting their product. Sure, you won’t get it tomorrow at 7am, but if it means you get a legit item and 13 cents doesn’t go in Bezos pockets for sending his girlfriend on a joyride to space, so be it.

They didn’t think it would go un noticed, they just knew someone would buy and Amazon would comp so they get free money

  12. I bought gp5000s off Amazon but certainly didn’t click used. 🤣🤣🤣

  13. It’s not 2012 anymore. Amazon is pure shit. Almost every company offers free shipping now.

Maybe it’s location dependent but literally never had this issue. Did you buy it from second party or “open package?”

Anything that isn’t from the manufacturer “store” and distributed by Amazon has been fine.

  15. I bought SRAM AXS batteries from Amazon once. When I opened the package there was dirt on the batteries. Someone just exchanged their old batteries for new ones. I don’t order anything bike related from Amazon anymore. Competitive Cyclist or Bike Tires Direct if I don’t go to the LBS.

Don’t buy OEM bike stuff off Amazon, especially things which impact safety: tires, helmets, etc.

I love Amazon, I got an edge 840 and it wouldn’t turn on so I started a return and there wasn’t an option for won’t turn on so I selected under battery and selected possible bulging or malfunctioning battery and they sent me a new one didn’t have to return the old one.

First one just needed charged longer and it finally turned on, but seemed like I had to press a combo of buttons to get it to turn on, got two gps now sent the first one to my friend I need to get back into cycling
