With the bicycle revolution happening currently in Paris, wide 2-way protected bike lanes are now the new built or reconfigured standard to keep up with the increasing demand.
Contrary to my previous video on some of the first, narrow 1.5 meter (5 ft) protected infrastructure built in the city in the early 2000s along Rue Magenta, this new infrastructure varies from 3.5 to 4+ meters (13+ ft).
The protection islands from automobile traffic varies from raised island curbs, delineator posts, parallel parking, motorcycle/scooter/bicycle parking. The intersections flow straight through with minimal jogging in the route mostly delineated with pavement makings. Newer facilities also have traffic signals in the islands for both cycle and automobile movement.
This mashup is a ride in both 1st and 2nd Arrondissements and starts out with one of the newest built facilities (this year) along Rue Septembre to Rue Reaumur, then along Rue St Antoine and Blvd de Sebastopol which were built in the late 2010s.
