First ridden in 1985 brand new, my Mesa Runner was stolen few years later from out in front of a comic shop 30 seconds after I walked in the door. I saw him swipe it and I chased him 3 city blocks before giving up. Ended up seeing the frame a year later, but stripped and re-equipped. When I approached him he got really sketchy and said he bought it off some guy, then sped off.

40 years later, after occasionally searching online for a replacement, I'm driving down the rural state road I live on now and spy this beauty with a "FREE" sign on it. It's not my exact bike because I still have the original owners manual that has my original serial #. But it is identical to the one I had down to the original handgrips. And the helmet was free, too (but I'll wear my new one). Now to find an original saddle…
