If you’ll accept another suggestion, don’t cross chain.

Can’t you just rotate the crank forward so the chain drops down to the middle ring & the quick-link moves until it’s accessible… then either add some links or just get a new chain & size it properly this time.

Manually lift the chain off the big ring in front. That should be the easiest way to release things so that you can properly route the chain. I do think you may have cut the chain a bit short, though.

you should still be able to move the chain to smaller cogs and then get the QR link to a place you can use it. then either add links from the leftover chain or just more QR links until it’s the right length after you thread it on the rear mech properly

Open the cage. Been there, done that.

Chain way, way too short. Drop the wheel out, add at least 3 pairs of links.

What are we fixing? Make the chain longer?

By the way, I’m not sure this rear derailluer has the capacity to handle this cassette with triple chainrings.

To free it just drip the wheel

Never ride in that gear. It’s called cross chaining and it’s a design flaw with triple chain rings.

You could always take the crank off if that works for you

Shift front cage in. Put pressure with foot on lower section of chain. Backpedal, it will drop. If bot just break the chan… pus the pin all the way through… you’re going to have to add a couple links anyway.

Your chain should always be long enough to work in the big-big gear combination. Your chain is at least 4 links too short.
Otherwise, when you force it like has happened in your photograph, you can break the rear derailer or even the frame. In fact, it’s quite possible that your rear derailer is now damaged.

Granny ring for the biggest /low 3 drive sprockets.
Middle ring for the middle sprockets
Big chain ring for the bottom / high sprockets
If you stand over the bike and look vertically down, the chain top will be v angled from the biggest /low sprocket to the big chain ring.
You may have the facility to use every sprocket on every chain ring, but you shouldn’t be… Chains work best when they are not subject to horizontal stress
Fantastic_Inside4361 on
Chain not routed correctly through derailleur, but needs 6x links of chain minimum too.

Need a chain stretcher.

I see the problem. Your bike it too long. You just need to shrink it.
