Always been curious about these cheap China-made saddles I picked up for around $28 (₱1,700). Honestly surprised by the build quality — the leather is thick and feels way better than I expected. Even comes with copper rivets too.

The only downside is they don’t offer a cutout version. Since I’ve been using leather saddles on all 3 of my bikes anyway, I figured… why not reshape one myself?

Here’s the result.

  1. Big-Strain1830 on

I bought maybe the same brand (Walgun) from AliExpress for a Surly Bridge Club I built for my wife. It seemed pretty solid but the leather tore and collapsed on one side after only 1,000 km. Worth a shot at that price, so I hope yours does better.

  2. Raise-Emotional on

You made a Selle Anatomica Saddle. My favorite. I have 4-5 of them.

  3. Nice work. Report back after a few weeks with your assessment after heavy usage.
