I recently swapped my cranks from an Ultegra-6800 to 105-7000.
However, I realized that my older wolftooth 44t sh-110 is no longer compatible.

Is it possible to shave the tab (indicated in the attached picture) to fit the 105-7000 crank arms? Or would that be a wasted effort?

Has anyone else encountered this issue?

I'm trying not to drop another $150 on the newer chainring if I don't have to.

  1. Grab a file and find out. Right now, you already need a different ring, so that can only get better.

  2. If that’s the only difference I’d shave that tab in a heartbeat. The bolt holes look a bit different too tho.

I have filed down an old style osymetric chainring to fit the new crank geometry and rode it for tens of thousands of km without any issues before.

What benefits does an expensive chainring really provide? Literally just dropped $22 on one
