I swear this isn't some kind of paid advertisement. I'm just genuinely grateful enough about this product to post it.
So, recently, I bought a set of Continental gp5000 tires for an old vintage bicycle of mine, and I had an absolute *hell* of a time getting them installed. I broke two Pedro's levers attempting to install and pinched a hole in a sorta pricey TPU tube. Why? I don't know, perhaps these tires are just a hair tight, or the rims are a hair large… I don't know.
The damaged TPU tube may have been my own fault, admittedly, I was getting frustrated and sloppy at that point. But I believe I was doing everything else correctly. And yes, I ensured the bead of the tire was pushed into the center of the rim to effectively reduce the bead's diameter. But I still couldn't get the tire mounted with standard levers.
Anyway, this lever is designed to hook into the rim and slide along it, forcing the bead over and into the rim. I did use some rubbing alcohol as a temporary "lubricant;" I probably would avoid using this on a dry tire. Also TBH it felt slightly flimsy, I was worried it would break, but it did mount two tires successfully, so decent enough. I also tried a Kool-Stop bead-jack but the bead kept sliding off the tool; I suspect this is partially due to the relatively thin rim by modern standards; a wider rim would see the tool angled less.
