I have bikepacked in Peru on my grizl 7 Aluminium and really liked it. It is also great because i can use it on light trails on the daily basis.
However i want a bike in steel for those bigger trips. Anyone knows a great steel-bike that looks like a grizl? maybe a bit more relaxed geo but still with around 2'' tyres

tumbleweed stargazer, salsa fargo, kona rove LTD. these all would fit the bill! crust evasion can be set up with drops too. I also think [bikepacking.com](http://bikepacking.com) has a good list of drop bar tourin bikes
Brother Mehteh or Crust Derecho.
Or if you look for a complete Wilde Rambler
Finna Landscape, Salsa Fargo, Surly Grappler. Kona Sutra
Omnium CXC
Fairlight Secan
Bombtrack Hook Ext, I have one and its been great. Steel frame, carbon fork, lots of bosses for mounting stuff all over the bike. Comes in around 11kg, but it feels lighter than that sounds on paper. With 650b it’s got room for 2.2inch tires but for 700c its limited to 40mm at the back, 45mm at the front (manufacturer limits). I have both wheelsets and I’m using the 700c for road so I don’t mind that limitation. Great bike so far! Looking forward to swapping out the factory equipped 650 x 2.0 WTB Rangers with tubes to 650 x 2.2 Racekings in tubeless.
I have a Tout Terrain Scrambler which I love. Set up with 650b x 57mm, but it can also take 700c x 50mm
Pinion c1.12 with belt (or chain of course) too, so on-trip maintenance is virtually non existent. Ive had mine 2 years and it hasn’t skipped a beat
I’ve got a Mason ISO which can take up to 2.6” I believe. Still looks gravel bikeish and feels good on pavement. Fits your needs pretty well I think!
Stanforth bicycles, and Thorn bicycles if you’re in the USA checkout Chapman cycles. I like bespoke I can spec every detail I used to buy frames and build them myself in my mtb days.
Cotic Cascade, I think you can run up to 2.6” tyres.
I run my Surly Midnight special with alt bars and thick 2 something tires on 650b. Verrry comfy.
I Just finished a bikepacking Trip on my Kona Sutra ltd and did so regularly since i got it in 2021. The geometry is a little bit less aggressive than a grizl, but that is part of why I love it for longer Trips. (I’m a roadie with aggressive Geo Most of the time.)
However I can more than recommend it, the mounting Options, stability and geometry are Just perfect for longer trips in rougher conditions!
