LBC’s Fraser Knight joined the Metropolitan Police on patrol during an operation targeting illegal e-bikes and scooters in North West London.

Over just a few hours, officers set up checkpoints, made stops, and seized multiple vehicles linked to criminal activity and anti-social behaviour.

The targeted activity comes as the Met has seized over 3,000 illegally modified e-bikes and e-scooters seized since January 2025.

  1. They only got the ones from delivery riders, who were actually “harmless”… the ones involved in crimes as phones snatching are still there, because those one are the ones that will never stop at the police signals and they have to be chased and eventually lost track of them, because they know the neighbourhood and run away where cars can’t reach.

So, that’s why some McDonalds delivery have not been completed this days…

  2. London needs to stop imposing it's 1 size fits all laws to the rest of the UK. For a lot of us up north the e-bikes are a serious part of the economy. Yes, there's criminals on e-bikes everywhere but flat out criminalizing them in media hit pieces like this directly harms the working class and the majority of sportsman who actually ride these professionally.

  3. Maybe they should take the evils off the streets so then the criminals can’t use them. No more e bikes parked on the streets so they can’t be used for criminals in crimes. It’s too bad but it makes sense to take them off accessible to them.

  4. Millions spent micromanaging problems that could be stopped… but the government is too scared to do it because 'it looks bad' or 'it feels bad' :/

  5. Yet they raise a UK terrorism threat to 'severe' when two Jews get stabbed…..FFS there's more crime occurring every minute in the UK. 53,000 knife related crimes in the UK last year yet nothing happened.

  6. You're never going to catch the real criminals in a car. It's only the poor Deliveroo drivers stopping for the police. Fair enough they should be driving with a full license but the phone thieves will turn and flee and easily escape.

  7. no matter where your vote lies, it is in everyones interest to stop crime. Ban balaclavas, confiscate ebikes that go over the speed limits when its obvious the riders clearly have bad intents! Do stop and search!

  8. The gangs that use e-bikes in phone robberies aren’t buying them. They’re stealing them and then modding them to use in robberies. So rather than solve the E-bike thefts and phone thefts the police launch police drones and cars to steal more e-bikes than the e-bike thief’s can. Well done. that’ll teach em!

  9. I hope those seized bikes get crushed at the compound. Deliveroo and other food delivery services should be held accountable as well for this menace on our streets.

  10. "incredible speeds" 🤡 Those that were taken wouldn't go more than 30mph. It's a joke they tell everyone "go green" "go electric" then you get F over when you do lol. The legal 250W motor is slower than someone peddling. The thieves use "Sur-On" don't be fooled by the skewed police story. They just took a load of innocent peoples bikes not one single Sur-Ron.

  11. E-bikes are a pain across the country, children are using them on roads and pavements. They zip along at 15+ mph, with no care for other users of the roads and pavements.

  12. Can we take a moment for a show of appreciation to the smiliest police officer in English history. More of that type of policing please. I actually loved how he communicated with the E-Scooter rider also. These things make a difference.
