  1. IrishBrugge on

Mostly going to be used for short-ish (<1 week) bikepacking trips. I have a pretty light set-up (just saddlebag and handlebar bag) so mounting points etc not really an issue. Terrain would be mostly tarmac roads, mostly poor quality, pothole-y ones in the west of Ireland. Would be some gravel/off-road sections but nothing crazy and realistically a small percentage of overall cycling time Comfort is probably my biggest priority but would like something that’s not very sluggish on the road either. Ideally, would like something with wide tyre clearance as have plans to tour in Europe where more gravel roads exist.

    I’m 5’11

    A) Trek Domane AL5 Gen 3 (€650)
    – 2022, one owner, says well-looked after, bit of a mark on crank
    – has 38mm tyres on it (not sure what and from what I can see online the clearance is not that wide for Gen 3?)

    B ) Kinesis Tripster AT 55.5cm (~€1000)
-2018/19 frame seems to be very well looked after. Used mostly for weekend fitness cycles
    – Tyres 32mm Panaracer Gravel Kings sk
    – In last 2 years, bike has gotten following new parts: Shimano 105 ST-R7025 shifter and BR-R7070 2×11-speed Disc Brake Set Shimano SM-RT64 160mm rotor rear Ultegra RD-R8000 2×11-speed Rear Derailleur GS Shimano 105 cassette 11-32 BSA threaded BB KMC X11 Chain Shimano Ultegra 6800 Chainset 46/36 Wheelset is new set of unused stock wheels Velomann Disc 700c 622-21, Profile 24mm

    C) Ribble CGR 725 (~€900)
    – Bought late 2021. Looks to be looked after very well. Used for two long bikepacking trips (~1000 km total) and two years of commuting (~10km round trip)
    – Full R7000 105 Groupset (11 speed).

    D) BRAND NEW Cube Nuroad Race
    – Could also go for this (~€1150 after C2W scheme from LBS). GRX 820 1x. (https://www.cube.eu/ie-en/cube-nuroad-race-royalgreen-n-black/129450)

Kinesis and Ribble are stretching the bounds of what I can pay but wondering if they would be cheaper/more future proof long-term and have better resale value.

Any opinions very much appreciated! Used bike market in Ireland has probably slightly higher prices from what I see here also just to note.
