  1. If you have a frame-builder in your area, I’d take it to them and see what they think.

Is it aluminium? I’m terrible at identifying metal without clear shots of welds, but the general rule is steel can be welded, carbon can be mended, but aluminium is done.

I’d cut the “U” part just before the bend and replace it with a solid piece (like a muffler clamp) and weld it

Looks like steel so probably, talk to a welder or frame builder, most folks in this sub are not welders lol

Can probably be welded, but if looks aren’t your concern, that could be repaired with some JB weld (the good clay like kind) and maybe a steel wire to hold it under tension.

  6. Likely yes, and there may be some reinforcement called for given it’s failed once.

    Paint will get wrecked locally.

I’d probably try to remove as much rust and corrosion as feasible, getting the st bare and brazing a gusset/wrap around reinforcement on the st. Then clamp the stay into that and braze the stays to that gusset.

Might break again…might not. Looks pretty rusty.

It’ll probably break again. Looks like the material failed around the weld.
