My friends and I embarked on a bike trip through Georgia. We were woefully unprepared and underestimated pretty much every aspect of this trip haha
The route: Tbilisi -> Telavi -> Sighnagi -> Ujarma -> Tbilisi
We had some issues getting out early on day 1. We made it about 60km before we decided that we need to take a car yeh rest of the way to Telavi otherwise we’d be biking in the dark.
We learned a bit from our mistakes on day 1 and managed to successfully cycle from Telavi to Sighnagi. That being said, one of us got injured and we decided to call off the rest of the biking.
What we learned from this trip:
We read a lot about what to expect but we did not have the experience to understand how difficult the climbs would actually be.
I packed too much. I will also change my ba setup. The weight distribution was terrible. I wanted to save some money by using a bag I already had but it made the ride less enjoyable.
The brompton bike held up and was still a joy to ride. It was also convenient that I could fold up my bike when we needed that car ride. I wasn’t particularly fast but that wasn’t the goal. I would definitely take my bike again. I might change out my chain for something more climbing friendly in the future.
This was a failed attempt but still fun. Next year should be better.

Well done for trying and glad you had fun. Just a suggestion, do single day local practices and a few one nighters carrying your kit as if going, it’ll help you fine tune ready for the main event
