Fan Zhendong is currently in a unique transition phase of his career. He has not retired from table tennis. He is very active but has changed his focus from the grueling international WTT circuit to professional leagues in Europe and domestic Chinese competitions.

Unless China lost this world team championship and thus he should be back for national service.
