My trusty track pump is letting air out of the wheel/tube valve. Connected the pump as normal, and can immediately hear the hissing of air escaping the wheel/tube. It still pumps up, but is obviously letting out the air I'm putting in, so I can't quite get it to minimum pressure.

Other hand pumps work fine, so it isn't an issue with the wheel valve. Happening on both Presta and Schrader valve wheels/tubes.

On quality track pumps, you can get all the seals or the whole pump head as spares.

  2. You need to learn how to use that pump.
You have a presta valve but you’re using a schrader end (on the pump).

Out of curiosity, where did you buy that pump. It is identical to my “Biltema” pump which has been my go-to pump for almost 20 years.

Are you sure the rubber insert in the pump head is in the right way round?
    It looks loose.

If you unscrew the ring there’s a black rubber insert with a wide hole one side for car tyre type valves and a narrow hole the other side for your type of valve.
You put the insert in one way or the other to suit the type of valve.

If you’re already using the narrow side it could be worn and not sealing around the valve stem properly.

  5. I couldn’t find any replacement seals for this pump head so replaced it with a Topeak one. The hose size is the same
