We’re Dean & Nala, and we’ve been best friends since December 2018. I was cycling around the world when I heard Nala meowing out for me somewhere in the Bosnian mountains. With no intentions of keeping Nala, I knew i had to save the wee kitten and take her to the vet – but I was well aware of the fact that it might be a bit of a challenge considering I only had a bike. However, despite my concerns, Nala quickly climbed out of the front bag on the bike handle and straight onto my shoulder. Since then, we’ve been travelling the world together. So feel free to tag along if you’re interested in following our journey and adventures around the globe ❤️

  1. Not stopping in Bratislava is like whaaat?! Even if you've been there before, that's hard to comprehend. But your journey, your choice of course!

  2. Wow 200th vlog – how amazing, congrats! 🥳😍 Lovely to see you back on the bike and lovely Nala on board🥰😍😻 Got myself a Nala's Ark pin badge – absolutely love it! 😻

  3. ❤😻hello😊. Life go up and down …anyway after a long time …today I’m back to follow you and Nala and this make me very happy ❤🚴‍♂️🐈🦋

  4. The slo mo swan footage came out extremely well.
Can't wait to see what other animals you capture along the way!
Also, lots of pets for Nala. 🙂

  5. Hi Dean and Nala, did you know that swans in the southern hemisphere are all black with bright red beaks. A shame you couldn't sleep at the top of the hill. The ants just look like the ant hill is moving. Your sore lower back was likely from pushing the bike up the hill. I think the bird watching hide is a great spot for your camp for the night. Looking forward to the next vlog. Thanks, Dean and Nala… 😍😻🐾👍

  6. The swan 🦢 bathing moved me to tears! How divine watching nature at its best. Love all you do Dean and Nala. Thank you so much for showing us how wonderful the earth still is!

  8. Just curious about your gear choice. It's been over 30 years since I did big miles on my road bike – and I never rode with everything for living on board, but as I recall – so long ago, the ideal was to be twirling these feet at about 100 a minute.

You start at an easy gear, get your spins up, then when you can manage thst high rate, you make it a bit tougher. But the ideal is to get back to that high speed spin.

I had always ridden a much tougher gear – thought it was the way to build strength, but the aim is to keep up the high revolutions.

I also discovered I had my pedals too short. I ended up doing 1200 kms a week, but riding bent over the bike, even with triathlon bars, I wrecked my back.

I don't have a clue what the advice is, carrying so much stuff – but if you haven't asked a bike coach, you might get some grest tips. And bike seats have had huge improvements for comfort. You can have shortened seats, seats with bits cut out of them. Padded gel seats…

I just think of the weight up those hills – and I cringe.

I still live with a terrible back. The thing I hated most was wind. And when it rained, I effectively had no brakes! And a spray of water off the back tyre hitting bottom and lower back…

I used to say, "Give me 100 kms on the flat, rather than 1 km up a hill."

But it made me the fittest I ever was…

  9. Cutest Glesga kiss ever on the camera from Nala at the end there! 😻😻
Amazing videography as usual Dean. Thank you for stopping en-route every so often to share the beautiful landscapes. Love that the cycling routes hug the Danube through each of the cities and so nice to see such a diversity of wildlife.
Safe journey as always big guy and little fluff ball. Also congrats on 200th vlog 🎉 Looking forward to the next one 🚵‍♂️🐅💖

  10. Aw, wow, got teary-eyed watching the precious swan footage. And have never seen such a huge ant nest. What a treat tagging along with you & Nala. Glorious, uplifting coverage all around.🙌🐾

  11. Life with a cat is so much richer. I feel blessed to living and traveling with my Merri, even if it sometimes involves added costs, logistics, less traveling options, and cleaning up cat vomit 😅
