Beeston Castle was built in the 1220s by Ranulf de Blondeville, who was the 6th earl of Cheshire. The Castle remained in good condition until 1646, due to Oliver Cromwell’s demolition Orders. The castle is built on Beeston Crag, which is in the southerly part of the Mid Cheshire Ridge, approx 350 feet above the Cheshire Plains.
