Cyclists “We have every right to ride our bikes in the road and you should share”
    All cars “Hah, no”

I rode in colombia last year in similar type of traffic. yes it can seem chaotic but there’s certain flow and rhythm. The drivers there are aggressive but also skilled, without ego and are paying attention. It’s the polar opposite of American drivers who have no skill, are full of ego and half of them are hypnotized by their smartphones. You don’t see road rages in South America like you do in the US. People don’t need reminder to share the road. I honestly felt safer in the Colombia chaos than I would in most American cities.

  3. I ride 100x safer than him everyday without bike lanes. Clearly a content for video purposes only.

There’s a reason so many young men die. Boneheaded riding on the cyclists’ parts.

It looks busy and congested. As a biker I’d be more careful and maybe even slow down.

Does common sense not apply to those on a bike? “I have the right-of-way as per the written law so F you” doesn’t seem like a safe way to deal with this kind of traffic.

  6. You’re the one mostly at fault, treat your bike like a motorcycle, always check and use hand signal before changing lane

This idiot is gonna get himself killed if he carries on like that. Either run over or at the hands of a driver he has pissed off.

this is what biking in the middle lanes of a congested highway is like just about anywhere.

Surely Ecuador has lovely dirt paths and countryside for great gravel riding ?
    That sure looks crazy though

Bro all the comments whining about cyclists “getting in someone’s lane” when a taxi is speedin an emergency lane are crazy

    Carbrain goes brr

  11. rides into direct line of traffic, basically directs bike under taxi wheel

    “hey taxi, watcha doing?”

    cycle better.

  12. Bro, wtf? Why are you cycling between 2 lanes instead of in the middle of a lane?
Why aren’t you following basic traffic rules?

  13. Riding through congestion on arterials seems the same the world over. Filter through traffic, keep your head on swivel for drivers trying to do the same. I’d like to know the grade that rider was riding up; he was putting the power down.

  14. lol traffic laws in Ecuador are merely suggestions. You’re honestly very stupid for doing something so risky. I’m afraid to drive in Ecuador, I’d never bike and specially not like this.

  15. i don’t waste energy smacking cars anymore, and if i do i especially dont get right in front where they can run me over

Everyone blaming the cyclist has clearly never cycled in traffic before.

Filtering through slow-moving traffic to get to the shoulder is 100% the right call on this particular road.

The cyclist even checks behind them before moving to the shoulder, which is what prevented them from becoming the victim of an aggressive, illegal motorist.

Riding in areas with no bike infrastructure is scary and exposes you to the stupidity of people like this taxi driver, but that doesn’t mean the cyclist did anything wrong.
