Bike was slow shifting down to 11 on the rear derailleur. Popped it on the stand to see what was up and discovered this. Completely cracked in half. Never crashed. Traveled with bike about a month ago but rear derailleur was removed from the frame and wrapped in bubblewrap. Weird part is it works kinds fine still – except i cant properly adjust the limit screw.
Anyone seen this before? How does this even happen.

Stuff happens. At least you didn’t get a chain locked up/drop and fall in front of a car with a driver on the phone watching insta or reading your other reddit post.
Time to level up and convert to single speed.
Not sure where you got it, but Shimano, I believe, has a 3 year warranty on the Derailleur. If it has no signs of impact, they will probably warranty it. Problem may be that you have to get it back to the location you purchased it from in order to process the warranty. But you might give Shimano an email with a receipt.
