I think David underestimated her. His hand looked exactly like what it was with the small river value bet. I think she knew and pounced on it. I know this sounds nitty. I probably would have folded after she bet 70K on the turn. First of all, J8 off isn’t a great hand to open with. Flopping top pair is nice, but a pair of jacks still loses to many hands – pocket Jacks, Queens, Kings, Aces, 7s, 5s, J7, J5. After the turn, add 7X to hands that beat me, so my hand is really only beating bluffs, a hopeful flush, high cards, and a 5 pair. Risk reward just isn’t there for me.
