Got this Fit Bike from a skateboard trade. My son wanted a bmx bike so what can I do to upgrade this for him? He’s turning 10 😅 I’m only a skater and rode only fixed gear Frankenstein bikes that we got random parts for. What would you recommend for this bike? Please send links to order parts from. He just wants to go fast so what’s a good Gear ratio?

Bike looks fairly modern with the integrated headset, just keep it as it is. Only thing I would replace would be the grips.
Standard on bmx is 25-9 but the fast folks like 28-9 generally
new grips, new pedals, pass some steel wool over it to knock the rust off. maybe spray some new paint if you really wanna
A 20″ is going to be big for a 10yo, it will go faster than his lil legs can spin the pedals. Turn the bars clockwise 1 rotation it will untwist the brake cable. Let lil man pick out new grips and pedals. Make sure the brakes work, tighten all the bolts and spray some lube.
