π΄ββοΈ The Bentley and the Borrowed Bicycle β Le Mans 1923
In the inaugural 1923 Le Mans race, a Bentley suffered a punctured fuel tank after being struck by a stone near the Arnage corner. With no fuel left, driver John Duff walked back to the pits. In an unusual turn, he borrowed a gendarme’s bicycle, slung two fuel cans over his shoulders, and pedaled back to his stranded car. After refueling, he returned the bicycle and rejoined the race. This resourceful act allowed the Bentley to finish fourth overall
