This is the first video in a videoseries called ‘Bicycle Touring … | Everything You Need To Know!’ In which I take a country I have personally cycled through and talk about 4 aspects an average bike tourer deals with when cycling through this country: landscape, view on cycling, people and finance.
This video is a guide to what exactly bicycle touring is like in the country of The Netherlands. In this video I talk about 4 factors that an average bike tourer deals with when bike touring through a country: Landscape, View on Cycling, People and Finance. I give a little summary about this country’s landscape, then discuss the view on cycling in this country. Then I talk about what the general mindset is like in this country and I end with what it actually costs to tour in this country.
Hope you liked it!

Sorry for the focus being off sometimes… I'll use manual focus next time!
The Netherlands is a beautiful country! I've been to Amsterdam and Utrecht!
Greetings from Serbia. π
Love the new series. Great informative information πΈπ²π²π²π²π²πΈ
Great idea of making these videos! Maybe you could incorporate costs of the food. Food is besides accommodations the most pricey thing on any tour I suppose. Maybe compare same basic griceries for every country?
Great stuff. I'm an Englishman living in the Netherlands. I cycle from Rotterdam to the Hague every day. Always struggle with the South Westerly wind.
For cheap camping, you could also use the 'Paalkampeerplaats' from Staatsbosbeheer, on these spots you can camp for max 72hrs for free, they are very basic, but the locations are very nice.
3 years ago I cycled one week through The Netherlands and only payed for my camp spot in Amsterdam, the rest of the week I stayed at a Paalkampeerplaats, 'Legal Wildcampspot'.
Very Interesting about your bike culture
Great stuff. I love the Dutch. And looking forward to your view on Germany.
Echt een super vet formaat. Ik zag trouwens durianrider voorbijkomen op 1:31, volg je hem ook op YouTube?
Great!! Just what I needed – moving to Den Haag from Liverpool in September for University and I am going to bike tour the country ASAP! We should meet up some time for a ride.
I live about 100km away from the Netherlands and although we are traditional rivals in football π My opinion to cycling in the Netherlands: Superb! An awesome cycling infrastructure and Dutch people are always friendly and relaxed. I love the Netherlands especially the Area around Ijsselmeer and Waddeneilanden
I heard from people I've met that my intro are kinda long I noticed that your intro was also 1 min long I wonder if it help mentioning the subscribe stuff in the middle of the video or the Entro? Just a thought. Great video full of useful information love it π
Very informative! Well done tice!
Great and awesome video full of information . I plan to cycle Long distance in Netherland , Please whatβs your recommendation for me thanks?
Nice! Especially the last part with Little Tice on his small bicycle.
Nice timing for me, I will be in the Netherlands in a couple of months, l am also looking forward to the Germany instalment. Keep up the great work π
Great video. Fresh new insight into the countries you travel. Edmonton, Alberta, Canada
Hi Tice, could you tell me how much did your bike weigh during your bike tour? Thanks!
Hi Tice. Do you have plans to come to the UK?
Odlicno. ovo je ono sto nam treba. Info!

I would like to ask you if i bike from paris to Amsterdam (my last Destination for this trip)
How could I take my bike with me to paris again because my Returned flight to my country will be from charle degol airport
Is it possible to take my bike in train from Amsterdam to paris .
Thank you and i hope to see you in amestrdam and make video with you.
Thank you for your time.
Great video I can't wait for more of them
Great video.. i plan to cycle from Holland and back to Copenhagen this sommer.. and this video is exactly what i am looking for… π
Nice video even if you did not mention an important "fact" in cycling The Netherlands: the wind. Especially on the coast it can be very hard pedaling with a strong headwind and therefore the choice of the direction of a bike tour is very important. Are you still using the Trek ? Why not using a Koga, a Gazelle or a RIH … :)?
I cycle from the East to … wherever … That's because I live in the Eastern part of the Netherlands π
Finance: be aware free camping is impossible, illegal, in the Netherlands! If you are found camping where there's no campground the fine will be very high. Please do think of that, you always have to pay (β¬10 -β¬25) per night.

The Veluwe is NOT in Holland, it is in GELDERLAND!!
Please never call the country "Holland" is is insulting to most Dutch, the ones not living in the Rampstad even..
After I visit Turkey,Netherlands is next.
Great video but why always the randstad its not the most beautifal side of our country its actually the ugliest and the only thing to do to find out is het your bike to noord brabant jonguh and cycle through and around breda and youll find out im very right πππͺπ
your parents are lucky as you sound like quite a good boi.
do you ever get blazed? smoke chronic?
sincerly,,
Brit who lived in Rotterdam
Oh com on mate !you didnβt cover one of the most important topic for travellers, which is sleeping/tents. Yes you said about campground, but what if I donβt need one ?Am I allowed to put my tent down somewhere in the bush ?is it legal?and, if not, is it somehow tolerated by people/ authorities?
Thanks for that we plan to come over later this year from Yorkshire in Northern England
Very helpful video. I have 7 days in Netherlands end of this month. Landing in Amsterdam. Can cycle 60km a day. I want to see the sights, history, culture of the country , Suggestions welcome.
