New bottom bracket, spindle, and crank arms bought from Crust, in an Evasion. Had a heck of a time getting the spindle in and it's never wanted to spin. Tightened it down per instructions, backed it out, nothing. Very confused. This crap was expensive.
White Industries mr30 bottom bracket doesn't spin freely.

That’s not great, especially if you have backed off the preload.
Has the BB been faced and chased? If the crank spindle was difficult to get in, it sounds like there is already an alignment problem between the cups and now the spindle is kind of wedged in there probably not running parallel.
White Industries must anticipate this, as the [first instruction stipulates the possible need to chase and face](https://www.whiteind.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/08/Instructionsmr30cranks.pdf). I would be surprised if that didn’t clear it up. It makes sense that it would be the issue when you describe how difficult it was to install the axle.
The cranks are toast, please send them to me so that I can properly dispose of them.
But seriously get the bb area chased and inspected by a shop that has the tool.
Is there a cable guide under the bb? I had this same issue on a 30mm spindle and realized that I needed a shorter screw to add clearance in the bb shell.
