I got a mini windfall in Fall of 1997 & Park at Fat Tire Farm convinced me to go all-in on a Kona HeiHei King Kahuna he had. He took all the XTR off and put a groupo that could meet my price point.

Nearly 29 years later, every single part (except the frame & left brake/shift-pod) has been replaced. Several parts, several times. The shifters got machined (Dremmel’d?) into just brakes by my old student when he was working at Sid’s in NYC a decade ago. Thumbies were always better.

Here’s to another few decades until I can choose my favorite grandchild upon whom to bequeath it…
