Just bought this Single Speed City 500 from Decathlon today. Two questions….
1) I take it the frame indent shown in the photo is normal? It just seems quite large to me & unneccessary for this bike. I'm guessing the frame is fairly generic & used across different bike brands so it's indented to accommodate different companies' configurations?
2) Unlike the pictures on Decathlon's website that show 'Elops' branding on the cross-bar, mine has Btwin branding. I don't think it's an old-stock bike but maybe just that Decathlon still use both Elops & Btwin branding depending on factory? (I had a Triban road-bike a few years ago that, contrary to the web images, also had Btwin branding on the frame).
Had a Decathlon Riverside 520E 'leccy bike for the past 14 months but quickly tired of it. Too heavy & my natural riding speed is 18-20mph so found that the assistance was pointless other than starting from stationary. Really looking forward to riding this simple single-speed bike. No fancy gear systems, 'leccy assistance, poncey lycra & padded shorts etc. Just drag it out the boot of the car, hop-on, ride, & don't worry about it getting dinged-up or stolen.
Typical Decathlon bike however…. Mostly fine, assembly grease put on pedal threads etc, but then there's some untidy welding, the lights didn't work because their batteries were flat & the tyres were barely inflated. Weirdly It also only has a 'Speed 500' sticker on one side of the rear triangle. Still, nothing major & I guess it's a decent base bike for the price that I can ride, enjoy & modify as time goes on. 😎👍
