Hey friends — got my first ‘road’ bike and a friend of a friend sold me this guy for $500. I’ve been enjoying riding it but have mostly stuck to 20ish mile rides around my city

Overall happy but wanted a second opinion as i feel like a lot of the components on this bike are very racy/speed focused and may be overkill for me as I live in a city with lots of hills and climbs. I’ve found myself looking for a lower gear a few times when struggling up a hill here

Looking for some opinions! Thanks

Probably a decent buy if it’s your size, no point complaining about the price after the fact at any rate. You could flip the stem, or swap it for a shorter/more angled one if you want a more relaxed position. Bear in mind that best practice is to have some kind of spacer above the stem, you don’t generally want the top cap directly on the stem itself. Some modern compact bars in the right width for your shoulders would probably help too, can be fairly cheap but it can add up.

No pictures of the drivetrain but you could maybe get a bigger cassette (which would need a new chain).

Must be some steeeep hills if you’re struggling while on the small chain ring up front and biggest chain ring in the back?
