My commuter,is basically a gravel bike, but I don't use it for any hardcore gravel riding. Some light gravel, mainly hardpacked, and riding around the burbs. My commute is about 10% gravel and 90% pavement.
I switch between two wheelsets, one withe Conti's Gatorskins (28mm). The second is WTB Riddlers (37) depending on the weather and mood. Both are due to be replaced this season after the thousands of miles on them. These are 700c wheels.
Trying to "downsize" my parts warehouse (my garage) and want just a single wheelset. Looking for a good light gravel, but mostly pavement tire. So far, my choices:
- Conti Terra Speed (40mm)
- Panaracer GravelKing SK's (35mm)
- Panaracer GravelKing SS+ (30mm)
- WTB Vulpine (non-S likely, S version maybe, 40mm)
- Maxxis Reaver (40mm)
- Schwalbe G-ONE RS (40mm)
I've been looking, researching and reading reviews and posts on all the tires. Wanted to see what the community was into or if there are other suggestions? I've seen a lot of tires, I've used a lot of tires, but I would like to see who is riding on what.

Schwalbe Marathon plus are good too!
I read that the Teravail Cannonball are a very good option at a good price. If someone has tried them, it is also appreciated to know your opinion
My favourite commuter tyre at the moment is Continental Contact Speed.
They are pretty quick, offer adequate puncture protection and are surprisingly supple for a commuter tyre. Also, dirt cheap.
I’m rocking Teravail Washburn Tire – 650b x 47 and no complaints. Smooth center and just enough grip on the sides for sketch parts. I’ve done probably 2k miles and no complaints.
I ride a cx bike for commuting and am rocking 700×28 Conti ride tours and holy shit are they bombproof. If you’re cool w tubes I’d consider those.
Following because I’m in the same position. Now that I have a dedicated MTB, my gravel bike goes on mostly pavement. Replaced my tires a few months ago with tubeless Maxxis Ramblers, and they do great on gravel and off-road, but they’re slower on pavement than I’d like for my commute. I’ll probably keep ‘em for the better part of a year, but when I eventually replace them will want something faster.
I did the same as you for my commute on my old bike. I ran GP5K All Seasons in 35mm. With orange sealant in them I road in hard pack all the time and never had a flat. They handled very nicely on it and were phenomenal on pavement. They perform markedly better than the normal GP5k’s in rain. I didn’t take them in mud or sand for obvious reasons.
A reasonably quick and all around capable tire.
Quite happy with the specialized bliss.

Recently bought these. Been very satisfied. Puncture resistance is said to be fairly weak however, but if you like going fast, these are great.
I’ve been pretty happy with the Schwalbe G1 RS. I have a similar commute as you and run them in 35mm. My favorite tire thus far.
My Specialized Pathfinders are pretty good for everything. When they need to be replaced I’m considering Tufo Thundero and Hutchinson Caracal as both seem to be a little faster but not as puncture resistant.
