The frame is approx 15 yrs old – which I've owned from new. I've been cycling with a pannier for the last 2-3 years, but its never been particularly heavy. My weight hasn't changed, and there is plenty of seat post in the tube. has anyone experienced anything like it, and know the cause – so I know what to avoid in the future? Looking for a 60cm Trek frame replacement now…

Is that a road bike? How did you hang a pannier? If the answer is a seatpost cantilever rack… maybe that could be it.

Thats a beefy clamp right above the breakage. What is mounted?
