saw this bike for sale. £50 asking.
looks kinda cool but I can't find a lick of info about supernova much less the survival GTX.
Anyone know what this is or where it's from or whether it's worth buying and putting some wheels on?
post description just says "red bike frame" which is not very helpful.

I’d guess it’s a typical “non-brand” product to be sold to masses who have heard about mountain biking being the new hot thing, or their children wanting a new cool bike. Has all the tell tale signs.
EDIT: Would not pay that much. Frame looks to be in survivor status and it looks like it could be fun to ride, equipped with proper parts.
Have definitely never heard of it, but that doesn’t mean much as there are plenty of things available in Europe that this American has never heard of. Reviewing the photos and yes it does look cool. Buying depends your goals for it though.
It’s a cheap bike. So if you want a fun pub bike or an extra ride to have in the garage when friends visit, by all means, buy and get road worthy.
Red flags to me are Hi Ten steel, never seen one that didn’t weigh a ton. The components are cheap and to me that means that they may or may not work or even be able to get them to work. Especially shifting or braking.
If you have mechanic skills and a parts bin, looking for a knock around bike, go for it! But my guess is that if you did you’d probably have a better sense of if you wanted it.
Not worth it. Cheap no-name frame, even openly “warning” you it’s Hi-Ten steel tubing, and a set of parts that were so ridiculously cheap they didn’t even use the cheapest available group-free Shimano parts or Taiwanese brand parts… spare yourself the worries.
My first project was a no name frame and its still my favourite bike! I would look at that as essentially spending 50 on just the frame though, would need full new parts. Only person who knows if it’s truly worth it is you!
Hi-ten steel, not worth much
Who cares what the brand is. It is a sick bike!
Great paint job, canti/v brake mounts. Plenty of tire clearance.
And the price is fair. Get it and give it a second chance at life.
Way to much for a mediocre at best frame in bad condition, its got (rusty) handlebars! Only really low end bikes have steel bars like that.
Paid £70 for a barely ridden high end boardman hybrid the other month thats the kind of value you should be looking for.
I’d pay fifty quid for that paintjob.
Components are junk, but don’t let the snobs put you off a hiten frame. The weight difference is often less than a pound between a supposedly shit frame made of gaspipe, and a fancy chromo butted frame with a bunch of dents in the foil-thickness midtubes.
I wouldn’t put any money into it, too low end, so many nice vintage bikes out there for cheap, at least where I live
