  1. Are people truly unaware of the cyclocross/gravel disciplines? Matthew Van Der Poel strongly disagrees with the sentiment that you need a suspension to go fast on dirt… And he's got multiple world championships to prove it 😂

Hell, I rode 150 miles on mostly un-maintained dirt and chunky gravel roads on an aluminum bike running 700 x 28c gravel tires (Northeast Texas Trail, 2019) and had a blast. Believe me, I'm nothing close to touching MVDP's skill.

  2. For the ones saying they need MTBs for this, please remember what riding a clunker when MTB was born looked like, and how people handled MTB bikes until the 90s probably, and yet people were having a lot of fun back then lol.

That being said, if the comparison is an MTB from the 90s, you can't deny much the original acclaims on gravel bikes being old MTB with a modern touch 😅 but that shouldn't be a problem, because those bikes were fun as well, it makes less challenging terrain feel alive and engaging, and that's a good thing.

  3. how do you actually initiate the slide like this… is it just about maxing the rear brake when going fast enough on loose enough that you don't actually stop. leg out for balance ?
