And how has your experience been?
So many people here ask "what's a good gravel bike to ride mostly on the road?" But where I live, almost everyone is riding rim brake bikes with skinny tires for commuting or fast aero bikes for group rides.
I never see these people who are riding gravel bikes on the road.

State 4130 Allroad with 27.5×2.2 racekings. Never had issues carrying an average on 20mph on road rides. I put about 2,000 miles of road riding on it in 4 months. The racekings are surprisingly fast
I ride cintaurato 45 hard with pretty high pressure and they feel quick on the tarmac
Schwalbe G-One Speed Pro 2.35” and Thunder Burt 2.35” go crazy on all surfaces
I rode 42 Pathfinder pros for a couple thousand miles then bought a set of alpine clxii used and run 32 gp5000 as on them
I have Cinturato H 40s that are pretty fast on pavement but they are overkill.
45c GKX1 here. I ride the bike/tires on everything.
I have wtb nano 40s on my gravel bike and it does OK enough on the pavement
40mm Tufo Thunderos on my REI ADV 2.3. Got them recently and they’re great on the road.
2.35 Burt’s , they are pretty fast
I ride road and gravel on Specialized Pathfinder TLR 45mm. Works great. We’ll see how the tread holds up long term though
Gravelking SS R 40mm is good for me, I mostly ride on pavement to hard pack dirt small gravel paths
I have used my Checkpoint as my do everything bike for the last 14 months. I have 2 sets of wheels, 1 currently has 40mm pirelli pzeros and 1 with the tires I use on gravel. I maybe ride one day on gravel for a week or even fortnight. I’ve raced regularly on the road with it and some gravel racing too.
Continental Terra Comp 45s but I may go 40 soon
2.2 Race Kings on my gravel bike and it goes just great on the pavement. Run them a little firmer for more pavement and softer for more dirt.
29×2.0 on one bike, 26×2.1 on another.
I love it and I will never go back to anything more narrow.
55mm g one rs pro to maximum comfort on bumpy sidewalks
42 corsa
My most used bike is my Specialized diverge, on fast 42mm semi slick tires.
I wouldn’t want it to be my only bike. I still want the responsiveness of a twitchy road bike sometimes, but when I am in the shed looking at the 2 I will usually choose the one that is more comfy, and surefooted.
The roads are so bad in my area I switched to a gravel bike on 45’s from a road bike on 28’s and I’m actually faster on the 45’s.
I use kenda 4titude in 40mm for everything. Could be better in chunkier gravel but my rides are usually 50/50 road/gravel and dirt so it’s good enough.
45 and 50mm on pavement regularly.
I commute on my gravel bike. Separate set of wheels with 47 mm Contact Urbans.
2.2 thunder Burt’s. Avg about 18-20mph on the road
Goodyear Connector Inter Race 50mm
I haven’t personally experienced, but all the reviews of the new ranges of 40mm road bike tires seem to be very good. A gravel bike with 2 sets of wheels seems likes its the way to go now a days if you want a 2 for 1 bike and aren’t 100% set on all out speed for the road bike.
40s are comfy but feel slow. Then again sometimes I’m on roads so bad I wonder if 50s wouldn’t be better.
Damn, she thiccc
Previous generation Sworks Pathfinder 42’s on my Aspero-5. Work great on the rough mtn pavement and dirt roads around here.
I’ve been riding 40mm tires on my Polygon Path X4 for the past year and a half, at first I was using the Maxxis Velocita’s and nowadays I’m running the Continental Contact Urbans, I’ve used both with Ridenow TPU tubes they’ve been fantastic. Sure they’re slower than proper narrow road tires, but at 40mm, they’re super comfortable and can tackle even the roughest roads or unpaved paths my country can throw at me and I can still keep a pace of 25-30kph on flat terrain.
