I’ve been cycling more with my kids and plan to ride around the neighborhood/paved trails, maybe a very small amount of gravel/dirt (but not more than 15ish miles on paved paths for longer rides). My 28 year old Raleigh SC 200 is falling apart (and hasn’t been used that much in the last decade). I was planning to treat myself to a new hybrid—-wither something like a Cannondale Quick 3 or a Trek FX. This older Trek Navigator 300 was just advertised for $300. Has had a recent tube up and the seller is a bike mechanic who vouches for its condition and doesn’t think it was used much. Is it worth it? (We live in a very high cost of living area which I think affects resale prices.

If your Raleigh has suspension then this might be a little bit lighter, but otherwise they’re kinda similar bikes of a similar age. You could probably tune yours up or maybe even take it to a shop to fix some of the major stuff for less than $300. Kinda hard to justify the price for a near 30 year old basic bike like this tbh, especially if you were considering 600+ for a new bike with a warranty and a lot of upgrades.
