Hi r/mtb long time lurker first time poster.

I used to ride BMX a long time ago, not much dirt but a lot of park and street. Packed it in and picked up mtb a few years ago and hadn't jumped for nearly 15 years, tried jumping and had developed an issue where I'd tilt mid air and land wonky so I started avoiding jumps the past few years.

Decided it's time to sort it out so have watched lots of technique vids and started teaching myself to jump properly again and started recording myself to see what's going wrong, I've started leaning back more on the takeoff to avoid tilting but decided to record myself to analyse what's going on and I think I've found the issue.

My right leg pushes downwards and my left leg comes up mid air. No idea why I'm doing this lol.

Has anyone had the same and figured out how to stop it or am I an edge case, either way, any tips? šŸ˜‚

  1. Maybe try to wedge feet as they say? You’re doing hella better than I am. Nice.

I do the same thing and thought I was the only one lol. Wish I had a fix for you but I’m still struggling with it

  3. Looks like you jump like me. We are squashing jumps by going airborne too soon. We need to push through the lip and have extended legs at this point, w bars pulled toward closer to hips. I find time at a bike park will get me used to this, but I revert to my default crap technique shortly after.
