I got standard M7 barrel adjusters but they seem to just fall right out and don’t even screw it.
But measuring across the inside diameter it said 7mm. So I am just confused. I don’t see a M10 fitting an M8 is only used for motorbikes?
I think new cables will help my issue and new barrel adjustors but I don’t know what size to get as the standard size didn’t work.
But yes there’s zero tension in the levers. The back brake wasn’t braking at all and has brand new pads and that’s why I even started this repair.
I just want to buy some parts with your help to do one last repair attempt before giving up and heading to a shop which is really rather avoid.
Would new housings fix anything or just the internal cable?
Levers are cheap Wuxing ones.
Thanks 🙂

It looks like there’s no tension on the cable, have you tried adding cable tension?
Also, I think an M8 still might be worth a try, you never know how cheap manufacturers are specing their parts
Measuring the inside of the brake lever is the equivalent of measuring the inside of the nut to get a bolt diameter.
You are essentially measuring the gaps between the threads, so you are getting an undersized, incorrect reading.
Also, “standard “ is a myth in cycling,
8mm are found on all types of bikes, kids, adult trikes , cruisers, hybrid ets etc
Also, you don’t really have to have the thread connecting to adjust the cable tension, you can readjust at the pinch bolt on the brake caliper (or arms) itself.
It’s a nuisance, but can be done. Barrel adjusted exist to dial in brake oil perfectly and to prevent excessive clamping and reclamping if the cable at the brake itself
