  1. Pics 1 & 2 look normal. 3 looks like the brake caliper is not between the pads. With the wheel off, measure the inside distance between the dropouts (where the axle touches) in millimeters.

There is something definitely wrong with that chain stay and I would’ve walked away as soon as I saw that

That doesn’t look great. Is the dropouts really that far away from the axle when the quick release is open?

Look near the bottom bracket and where the seatstays meet the frame. Chances are there are cracks. If not… it’s probably just a matter of time. Aluminum fatigues. Would i potentially risk it? Maybe. Would i tell someone else to ride it? Absolutely not

Not necessarily a broken frame. Depending on what the frame is, this could be a 135mm wheel in a 141mm frame. Could also be 130mm to 135mm.

Take a peek at what is under that tube wrapped around the frame. Measure the dropout width and the hub as well.

If there is damage somewhere in the frame it’s probably bent but this may just be incompatible parts .

Your brake rotor isn’t sitting in between the brake pads, and it’s pushing the frame apart.

Update. Just saw the frame was broken and re welded. The person I bought the bike from stopped replying. You have to love FB marketplace. Any advice?

  7. Looks like someone squashed a smaller hub into the frame. I would measure between the dropouts and also check the stays are square.

Old school trick is take a piece of long string mark the center of it. Wrap around the seat tube with the mark in front center of the seat tube. then each end back to the respective dropout. Each side of the string from the seat tube to the dropout should be the same length. Just make sure you mirror the position of the string in the dropout. Ie from inside to outside on both.

Edit: Note it’s not perfect way to check for frame tweak but will give you an idea.
