I just came into possession of my fathers old triathlon bike that has been sitting in the shed unused for decades. It has a fair bit of sentimental value and I'm hoping to tidy it up as a bit of a project, and maybe use it occasionally as my daily commuter instead of my mountain bike. I thought I might share it to try and get an accurate date on it (late 1980s?), and as from a look around it seems like the groupset on it is relatively desirable(?).
I would like to fit brifters, and some modern rims to the hubs with gravel tires if possible (my commute is mostly crushed limestone cycle paths and I'm probably not coordinated enough to use the downtube shifters at the moment) to make it more rideable. Any thoughts or recommendations?
Is it realistic (or even needed) to be repair the dent in the seat stay? I've seen frame blocks used to repairing dents in the top tube, unsure if that same technique will work on the seat stay.
Thank you for any advice.
