This bike rips. It’s brilliant. Third ride today taking PRs left right and centre. Was in a huge rush to finish it- had a shakedown race on Salisbury Plain, so there were some compromises.

I got GRX 810 calipers but managed to buy cable brake shifters. Hence the flat mount converters, but honestly I’ve found them to be just fine so far. I may upgrade some way down the road but it’s not an issue to my mind.

I’m going to be using it for a 600k gravel event I’m doing for charity in May. Going to be a toughie but I’m looking forward to it.

Specs:

Sonder Camino Ti XL frame and Sonder carbon fork. Chris King headset. USE Components Vybe seatpost and stem, Shimano Pro Discover handlebar (44cm, 12* sweep) and Giant Approach saddle.

105 shifters, GRX 810 cranks and 46-30 chainrings. GRX 820 FD, SLX M7120 RD with JTek pull adaptor. 11-42 11spd cassette.

Fulcrum Rapid Red 500 wheels with Hutchinson Tundra 44's set up tubeless.

Profile Design aero bars.

The bar bag is the Rapha Explore, and the Apidura top tube bag. Got Alpkit frame and saddlebags for the big event

Edit: for the next person searching reddit for wide range mullet gearing builds: this works. Seriously, seriously well. Very happy with the spacing and I feel like I could ride up the side of a cathedral if I picked my line. Jtech pull adaptor for a big ol’ MTB derailleur to juggle a big 11spd cassette in 2x. Cross chaining is something to avoid but it comes pretty naturally. Do it.

  1. I’ve got that same bar tape on my vintage RB-1, how has it held up for you?
