
I'm confused by the petrified looking rubber in one very localised area. These are quite old inner tubes and I couldn't spot any obvious damage to the tyres other than that they'd clearly been used under-inflated at some point. Any wisdom is appreciated!

Frictions, like lots of it, would be my guess.

Tube was folded or twisted in the tire. Inflate the tube enough so it takes it shape before installing to avoid this
low tyre pressure and driving over a curb or pothole squeezes the tyre between the rim
Did you use a tyre lever to remove tyre/tube? Could it have caught the tube when trying to remove? Some tyres are as tight as a nats vagina. Just guessing
