



These Alex Adventurer rims have 40k km on them and definitely need replacing. But is it extremely stupid to do one last 4,000 km bike tour on them (in the, uh, Himalayas) if I avoid bombing down hills?
I've left things a bit late for replacement. 🤦

Are you using Magura brakes, by chance?
Why would you want to risk it? Surely the cost of new rims is worth it to avoid a surely shitty situation if or when your rim wafers in the middle of buttfuck nowhere.
No offense but that really is a no brainer.
You know you need to replace them before that trip.Â
I would not ride those rims to the next barbershop, you want to ride in the Himalayas? That’s brave.
I’m not sure where you’re located, but at least in Europe, rim brake wheels are now dirt cheap in used market places.
You can get a set for 60€ ..
