Hi everyone,

I’m looking for some advice regarding a warranty claim on my 2023 Trek Top Fuel 9.8 AXS, as I never had to use a Trek warranty before.

I bought the bike brand new about 9 months ago from an official Trek store in Spain. I’ve just noticed a visible bulge/deformation on the on the left side of the down tube, right where the logo is. There are absolutely no impact marks or scratches on the paint, and I haven't had any crashes or hits, actually, I do mostly XC and light trails, never a bike park or decent jumps. It's really strange because not of having any marks at all.

Since I’m heading to the dealer this week, I have a couple of questions for the community:

  1. Sizing Change: When I bought the bike, they only had a Size M in stock (liquidation sale). I’m 175cm (5'9") and I’ve realized the M is a bit cramped for me (I even had to swap for a longer stem after a bike fit). Has anyone had luck requesting a different size as a warranty replacement instead of the original size? I would rather go for a M/L.
  2. Color/Model: My current bike is that beautiful Pannyflake 2023 scheme. I know 2023 stock is likely gone. If they offer a 2024/2025 frame in a color I don't like, how flexible is Trek with color options or offering a frame upgrade if the standard one is out of stock?
  3. Components: If I move to an M/L frame, should I expect the shop to cover the labor and any new cables/housings needed for the slightly larger frame?
  4. I'm using a Race Face stem instead of the Bontrager. Should I reinstall the original Bontrager before taking it to the store, or would using a non-original stem affect the warranty?

Any tips on how to approach the shop to make this as smooth as possible would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks in advance!
