the center axle is one piece, I tried hitting both sides with a mallet, managed to push the bearings out. but I was unable to move the axle towards either side with moderate force. this particular hub is bontrager branded
probably by carefully hammering it out…… many of their hubs are not made to be easily serviced. They are usually for OEM and low priced wheels. If you look up formula hub and the part number and masintenance on youtube you make find something. You still will need some tools with a drikt kit to properlly remove and install the bearings if that is what you are trying to do

It’s probably flanged to limit the bearing from going in too deep (unlike your wife’s boyfriend). Put a bearing press on in with a large socket on the other side to slide the axle and bearing out together. Alternatively you can try to gently hammer it out over an open vice. Use a cloth to protect the hub, and a piece of wood to protect the axle.
